Fiesta Brunch

August 2, 2011
Tomorrow marks the first day of Old Spanish Days Fiesta in Santa Barbara, an annual 5-day festival—see last year’s recap here. So to kick off this year’s shenanigans I decided to have some friends over for a Fiesta brunch. On the menu? Breakfast tacos with chorizo, eggs, avocados, cilantro, black beans and queso fresco, Mexican coffee (see recipe below) and spicy potatoes. I set the table with burlap fabric, a star lamp I picked up in Mexico (see my trip here) as the center piece, mason jars as glasses and mini Mexican flags and sombreros on each setting. It was the perfect way to get into the fiesta spirit.
Mexican Coffee:
5 scoops of strong coffee (I love Peet’s)
2 scoops of coco powder
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
and if you’re ready for an early fiesta…
1 shot of Kahlua
