Beach Bonfire

summer bonfire on the beachBeach bonfires are just about the most romantic way you could spend a warm summer night. There’s something incredibly peaceful about the sound of the waves crashing and the heat from a blazing fire, it’s nearly impossible not to spend hours eating s’mores or double dog daring someone to skinny dip. On a recent toasty night I gathered some friends and my fiancé (who I actually met at a beach bonfire!) for a seaside dinner. I brought lobster ceviche in weck jars (get the recipe here), fixings for shrimp/halibut tacos and s’more essentials. Below are some tips on planning the perfect summer bonfire on the beach but the secret to a carefree and delicious night? Keep it simple. santa barbara{ Always check the tides before heading to the beach, a high tide could put an end to the evening. }denim on denim{ Always pack layers because it will cool off. J.Crew top, Paige Denim shorts, UGG Australia tote and shoes, Celine sunglasses, Jennifer Fisher cuffs. }lobster{ Keep the menu simple and prepare what you can ahead of time. I made lobster ceviche the night before and it was perfect for this shindig, everyone loved their individual servings in a mini jar. }wood tools{ Bring the boys to build the fire. }firebeach shoes{ Shoes kicked off. His and hers on a striped blanket. }summer recipe{ To cook the shrimp and halibut we made skewers and wrapped each one in tin foil. Then rested them up against the fire just enough so that they’d cook. }tinfoil essentialtaco fixings{ Doing the same thing with the tortillas but warming them just near the fire pit. }fruit{ All the fixings for our tacos we prepared on a large bread board—very handy to keep sand out of everything. Tip: tacos are great for bonfires since they don’t require utensils. }on the beachstripessurfboard table{ Get creative! We used a surfboard as our seafood taco buffet. }  delicious bonfire recipesummer dessert{ Secret s’more ingredient: Using Le Petit Ecolier cookies instead of fumbling around with graham crackers and chocolate. }evening spent seaside{ Don’t forget to look for the green flash when the sun goes down! }
