The change in season is something I always look forward to. Routines are shaken up, a new wave of beauty favorites sweep the bathroom and there’s new reason to refresh a wardrobe. Even though it’s already feeling like summertime here on the West Coast gearing up for poolside/beachside days have been on my mind. I’ve already snuck in a few here and there but the real heat is yet to come. Some of you asked me recently what my go-to sunscreens are, which got me thinking about all the essentials I like to throw in my summer tote and wear for such outings.
Old Navy tunic, Paige denim shorts, Saint Laurent aviators, Mar y Sol tote bag, Old Navy sneakers, hat, one-piece and swim top.
Naturally the perfect tunic is a necessity. I love finding reasonably priced ones that will no doubt get spilled on, wet and beat up. I found a few at Old Navy that I’m currently loving, including this one.I can’t stand having bikini strap marks on my chest, so I always make sure to bring along a bandeau with removable straps like this one. Nothing ruins a vacation quite like a bad burn so I always make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen. Here are my favorites: Neutrogena Sensitive Skin, Kiehl’s Activated Sun Protector (extra light weight), Minus Sol (slightly tinted for face), Coola face sunscreen (the best for everyday use, never causes a breakout).
My latest obsession, these slip on sneakers from Old Navy. They’re crazy comfortable and so easy to slip on and off. I try to be as low maintenance with my beauty routine during the summer months. And since swimming is never something I like to turn down I try to be equipped with wet hair taming products. Lush’s R&B leave-in hair moisturizer has been a recent favorite. It smells like summer and works wonders for controlling frizz and getting that cool, wavy, hair-dried and piecey look. It can also be used on dry hair when humidity takes a toll.
Whether you’re hosting a party or bringing the booze, Rosé in the summertime seems to always be a good idea.
