Todd asked me the other day what I wanted to do for my very first Mother’s Day. It took me a beat to respond. I was so busy wrapping my head around the fact that a.) it was already May and b.) that I’m a M-o-m, which still sounds funny at times when I say it out loud. Once it registered that I get to indulge a little the next thing that came to mind was a simple request—chocolate cake from Merci To Go, my recent obsession. Aside from being a master baker, owner Elizabeth Colling also happens to be an incredibly stylish mother-of-two. We recently got together with a mutual friend, Maren, and our babies for a sampling of Elizabeth’s creations. Mother’s Day came early for me. Here’s a peek at our afternoon tea at El Encanto.
On the menu:
Kale and California Pear Salad
Scones with Preserves
Tea Sandwiches: Egg Salad, Smoked Salmon, Cucumber
Jasmine Tea
From Merci To Go:
Lavender Panna Cotta
Organic Poppyseed Bundt Cake
Rose Macarons
Lemon Tart with Rhubarb and Pistachios
Elizabeth with her adorable daughters. Her dress, which we all gushed over, is by Ulla Johnson—available here and here in white. Marble tray and cake stands from Hudson Grace, a favorite stop for all things pure and simple for the kitchen! Plates from Anthropologie here.
On me + Elin: Sea dress, Kendall Conrad bracelet and bangle, Jennifer Fisher cuff, Egg by Susan Lazar romper, Freshly Picked moccasins. On Maren + Daeler: Isabel Marant dress, Gap one-piece. The most perfectly sized flower faves found at Porch.
Everywhere we go I make sure to bring a cozy blanket for Elin to hang out on. The Aden + Anais dream blanket is our favorite.
