The Office

After months of looking I finally found something that feels just right. As I mentioned here, it’s in an up and coming industrial part of Santa Barbara called the Funk Zone, a hop skip and a jump from good food and a few blocks from the beach. Needless to say I was excited to move in and make it my own. I partnered with Anthropologie to design the space and created something that feels exactly how I envisioned my office—airy, sleek, sophisticated and minimal.

Then I picked another striped piece, a rug, that seemed to pull the room together. From there I went with minimal white pieces mixed with wood and brass accents. could-i-have-that-office{ A collage of inspiration for an upcoming project and a white leather chair accented with a sheepskin throw. }could-i-have-that-office-anthropologieChoosing a desk was the most fun. Anthropologie has so many amazing tables and since this was going to be the focal point for the room, I wanted it to be simple yet bold. The Gloss & Grain table fit all of my design wishes. The glossy finish is incredibly sleek while the modern shape brings a sense of sophistication. It feels so incredibly good to sit down at it every day. I complimented it with the Mackinder chair for visitors. could-i-have-that-office-anthropologie-9{ A Garance Doré calendar hanging in the window. }could-i-have-that-office-3One thing you’ll always find on my desk is colorful pens. Something about bright shades make to-do lists a little more fun. A copper pen holder (similar) and Crane scissors add a warm touch to the simple clean desktop. could-i-have-that-office-anthropologie-4I chose this Hoop Mirror originally because I loved the design of it. Turns out, it’s become one of the most important pieces because I literally use it everyday—before meetings, to spruce up my hair before a photo shoot and double checking there’s nothing in my teeth after lunch! This little corner is also a favorite because I use it to decompress, flip through magazines and gather inspiration. Sitting in front of a computer can grow stale so I wanted a comfortable chair/area to daydream if needed.

The marble block stand and arched brass arm brought a playful vibe to the space. could-i-have-that-office-anthropologie-7{ Simple white shelves gave me extra storage for clothing, books, magazines, files and more. }could-i-have-that-office-anthropologie-10Keeping notecards on my desk remind me to send a little snail mail from time to time. Anthropologie has some of my favorite stationary designs, giving me even more of an excuse to get out a pen. CIHT_OFFICE_046One awkward aspect to the room was this block in the corner. Since it was right next to the window I decided to make it a cozy window-seat by adding a couple Shag Puff pillowsCIHT_OFFICE_067Now… back to work.
