The Wide Leg Cropped Jean

May 4, 2017

I’m a sucker for a show stopping pair of jeans. Normally I keep things pretty classic, but to me these fun patched jeans by Madewell felt like the greatest nod to the ’70s—the decade I wouldn’t mind hopping on a time machine to. The other thing that caught my eye, the cropped flare shape that is all the rage this season. After struggling to find my groove with the au currant look, I discovered some tips for making the style work, now I can’t stop wearing them.
Tip #1: Opt for classic shoes with simple silhouettes. These nude Loeffler Randall shoes are easily the most worn heels in my wardrobe—they’re so cool while being incredibly versatile and timeless at the same time. When I’m styling with flats, slides have been the go-to—especially this pairTip #2: Because the flare gives your overall look a bit of volume, tone down your handbag of choice. The slimmer and skinnier the better. Let the pants take center stage. Tip #3 If you’re feeling like it’s too much jean for you try tucking in your shirt a touch in the front—coined the “half-tuck” not quite tucked in, not quite tucked out. It will help define your waist and polish the look. Some other wide leg denim I’m loving at the moment…
