Lingerie Essential: The Black Bra

June 13, 2017

I’m a firm believer that style starts with a little confidence and confidence comes from feeling amazing. Whether or not you’re showing it off, the base layer is where it all starts. How a bra fits and feels is everything when going about the everyday routine. And more importantly having the right color and style will allow you options for certain wardrobe pieces.

I’ve been wearing Thirdlove bras now for over a year and can’t get enough of them. The fit, comfort factor and quality makes them my go-to when it comes to underwire. And they offer half cup sizes which makes a world of a difference when you’re in-between sizes. I also love how basic and functional each bra and style is, so shopping for something to go under a specific piece is always easy. Side note: I just scooped up some of their underwear styles and love everything from the fabric and design to the fit and colors. My base layer is all Thirdlove these days.

Among my drawer of base layers are a few favorites I rely on. We can all agree a nude bra is essential and versatile, but we can’t forget about the bold (ok I’ll say it, sexy) nature of a black bra. It wants to be seen a little. So as we slip into summer keep in mind these few options for styling your black bras.

Peeking through a button down top. Go one more button down, throw on a bold necklace and a touch of highlighter on your chest. The silky pajama look is perfect for pulling this one off.  Paired under a sheer top. I have this black basic  roomy top that I love wearing over the 24/7 T-Shirt Bra. It’s subtly shows what’s underneath, not too obvious, making it perfect for the night hours. Add a little edge with a black leather jacket.  Sheer meets strapless. Play around with a strapless bra and sheer top (like this one) for a different take. A perfect peekaboo for a oversized coat or blazer. A little tip: be sure to try out the FitFinder Thirdlove offers to help you find your right size. Through a series of questions they’ll determine what size and style is best for you to try. And don’t sweat it, there’s also an option to “try before you buy” in case the fit is not on point.
