How To Wear Red For Fall

October 2, 2017

There’s something about red that demands attention, which is a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your mood. It’s loud, it’s bold and it’s kind of sultry at the same time. Color can be such a personal preference but one thing is for sure, red is having a moment this year. It’s a color I don’t instantly gravitate towards, but given the season and endless options out there right now, I’ve been falling for it a bit lately. Turns out there are a lot of ways you can play your red card.

1. A pop of red. Take a basic denim and neutral look and add a great red heel or mule, handbag or even something as subtle as cherry red nails. It’s a great way to ease into the trend if you’re looking to invest in it. I got this little wristlet bag (similar style in red here) by Zac Posen and I love how easy it is to pair with so many looks and  how perfectly it fits just the essentials—phone, credit card and lip balm.

2. Red Snow Bunny. We’re heading to the snow this Christmas and I know a setting like this begs for a splash of red. It’s one place that you can’t go wrong with a shockingly bright color. Snow bunnies aside, a red puffer this season paired with a great pair of denim is très cool.

3. Hot pants. A while back I saved an image of a firing red suit, oh so 80’s. I still haven’t found something similar that works on my frame and it seemed like something I’d wear once, so I opted for the next best thing—red pants.
