Valentine’s Day DIY

January 31, 2014

Valentine's Day DIYI’ve always had a soft spot for Valentine’s Day. There’s something utterly sweet about handmade gifts and sentiments from the heart and I’m all about getting crafty in honor of it. In the past I’ve made chalkboard door tags, heart shaped cookies, glittery notes and more but this year I’m going with something more wearable.

My friend Sara of Bonzo, Chooch, Mushy and Me (one of the most creative birds I know) recently invited me to try out a DIY project she’d been itching to test out, I gladly accepted. The mission, graphic tees using a technique called freezer paper stenciling – something I hadn’t even heard of until she mentioned it. To sum it up, it’s a super easy way of achieving a silk-screened look with your own custom designs. I made tees for some girlfriends with french sayings while Sara made baby tees with hearts and words like “rad” and “dude”.
