5 Tips for an All-White Look

September 2, 2016

CIHT_7.9.15_068I’m not one to pack away the white after Labor Day, however I am do find any excuse to pull out some of my favorites. So this weekend, I’ll happily reach for one of my one-too-many white pieces that seem to make my wardrobe go’ round—well, most of the time. In celebration of the three-day weekend (hallelujah) I figured I’d spill a few tips I go by when it comes to sporting a head-to-toe white ensemble. So here it goes…

Tip #1 // Half tuck it. Grab a colored shirt with a great pair of white jeans and tuck in the front just a bit for a more polished look.

CIHT_TAHOE_599Tip #2 // Add a black belt. Every once in a while I’ll need something to break up the monochrome look, especially when it involves a loose fitting dress. Adding a belt is a simple and effective touch. (dress above available here)tahoe-summer-could-i-have-that-7Tip #3 // Mix textures. When working with the same color (this goes for any monochrome look) try grabbing different fabrics to pair together. A loose knit sweater and distressed denim are favorites in my wardrobe. CIHT_7.6.16_057Tip #4 // Layer it. It doesn’t matter what type of garment it is, try layering it. You never know what might come of a little creativity. A tank over a tee, a sweater under overalls, two slip dresses worn together… you get the idea. CIHT_7.9.15_127Tip #5 // High waist to the rescue. I’ve been loving an-all white look at the beach, thanks to these Heidi Merrick bikini bottoms. These days I’m less about baring it all for sun tanning and more about hiding under the umbrella/hat semi covered. My solution? Tees and tanks tucked into the high waist, which will compliment your figure and elongate your shape—I swear.
