The Secret to white sheets

June 2, 2017

We spend a lot of time on our white-sheet clad bed from lazy mornings to afternoon siestas, all of which you might catch on my Instagram from time to time. But what you don’t see in my semi-staged cozy situations is the secret behind keeping those sheets fresh and clean. Coffee spills do happen and a 2-year-old who loves berries inevitably leaves purple paw marks on the regular.

I teamed up with Clorox and Cotton Inc. to lift the veil on those idyllic Instagram moments we all see and share my secret behind keeping our sheets as white as can be. Life (real life) is messy, especially with a toddler running around, so I have my routine down when it comes to fixing those “oops” moments.

Enter Clorox Regular-Bleach. Not only does it take away the constant spills but it also keeps my white sheets smelling fresh and staying white longer. And here’s more reason to reach for cotton when it comes to your bedding, because of it’s fiber nature its less likely to trap odors and more likely to release them in the wash. Throw in some Clorox Regular-Bleach and you’re getting rid of 99.9% of bacteria which causes oder. Consider my bottle of Clorox best buds with my white cotton sheets.

True story, on Mother’s Day I had this silver tray delivered to me in bed with flowers, french toast and a card. We all got in under the sheets and hung out for a short 10 minutes while I we tried my syrup-drenched breakfast. It made my day even though somehow sticky patches of syrup ended up all over. They got a good wash later that afternoon.

When it comes to spills and accidents I try to soak immediately (or within 24 hours) with Clorox and later wash in a warm-water cycle. After adding my detergent (favorite above) I fill the bleach dispenser—1/2 cup for standard or high efficiency, 1 cup for larger machines and heavy stains—toss my whites in and start the wash. Just like that my white cotton sheets are back in tip top shape. Note, be sure to use this only on cotton or bleachable fabrics.
