What to Wear to a Winter Wedding

February 5, 2018

There really is nothing better than a wedding. I get giddy when an invitation comes our way and lucky for us we had one on the calendar a few weeks ago. I’d never been to a winter wedding before so picking out an outfit was a lot of fun—an excuse to break out grandma’s fur. But what I loved most about wedding bells in the heart of winter was an early sunset, it got dark early so the ceremony was incredibly romantic with candles galore lighting the way as my cousin walked down the aisle. It was truly beautiful.

So what did I end up wearing? You can catch the instagram post I put up here, but I went on a hunt for dresses. This Ulla Johnson one (pictured) didn’t make it in time but I loved it so much I had to share it. Here are some favorite things I came across on my winter wedding shopping hunt, in case you’ve got one on the calendar this month.

CHIC IN BLACK

Weddings aside, a classic black dress (or pant suit!) will take you far when it comes to dressy affairs. If it’s a pricy find, know that you’ll probably wear it many times more.

FABRIC OF THE SEASON: VELVET

This was the first thing that came to mind when I started hunting for my look. It’s the perfect nod to the season and so fun to wear.

MELLOW TONES

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you have to wear something black. Stick to mellow tones, dark earthy shades or dark patterns.

ACCESSORIES

Stick to nudes, metallics and things that shine to compliment the look.

Long Sleeve Velvet Dress

Bunny Dress

Toni Earrings

Flutter Smock Dress
