Transitioning Into Spring

March 12, 2018

We just came off of a rainy weekend in my neck of the woods but I can feel it in my bones that Spring is near. The time change always feels like a fresh page in my mind, which calls for subtle wardrobe nods to the sunshine ahead. Am I right, or am I right? No cloud in the sky or chilly days can stop us from embracing some of the latest and greatest from the new-to-shop Spring collections.

So while it may not be picnic weather yet, here are some creative style tips for pulling out your Spring favorites on the early bird side. My New Yorker friends may need a puffer over these ideas (or a plane ticket to a tropical island?).

Layer Your Breezy Dresses

Probably the easiest thing to do with your old and new Spring dresses is to grab a long sleeve crewneck tee (I’m wearing a long sleeve ATM tee) and layer it under the dress with an added jacket or layer on top. Pick a light neutral color with a floral to really get the Spring vibes flowing.

Lighten Up Your Accessories

Time to switch things up with lighter shades. Invest in a white handbag or neutral framed sunnies. It will instantly change the mood of your look while making it easy to wear more creams, whites and florals.

Sneakers For The Win

You may slip on a dress and feel that sandals are in need. Don’t you dare put those strappy sandals on yet sister. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Instead, embrace the au courant trend that is pairing sweet, feminine dresses and skirts with a pair of sneakers—and your toes won’t freeze. Want to get really high fashion? Try a white athletic sneaker—or break the bank with Balenciaga runners
