Why I Need To Sweat

Somewhere between having a baby and entering my 30’s I started listening to my body in a different way. My high sugar diet started taking a toll and bouts of fatigue became a regular thing. Translation, I wasn’t giving my body what it needed. Along my journey of cleaning up my lifestyle and diet, I made it a priority to sweat at least twice a week. For starters, it’s a great way to detox from everyday toxins and gives your mind a break. Those two things alone, I’ve learned, are the best kinds of maintenance for your physical and mental health.

Before I jump into the different ways I get the blood pumping, I wanted to share some gear that I recently had the chance to try that has moved to the top of my “activewear favorites” list—the brand spankin’ new Nike Air Max 270. The design (which includes an airbag) literally feels like you’re walking on air, which feels amazing after a good work-out. Also the pop of color on the heal feels so right as we step into Spring. Here are three ways I sweat every week.

Yoga

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come across “the benefits of yoga” through different health advisors. The breathing, movement, stretching and heat can do wonders for your stress levels, organs, hormones and all the while detoxing your body. I’ve become slightly addicted to it because it makes me feel amazing while keeping my anxiety in check. Because most days when I head to a yoga class I start my day off by putting on my yoga clothes and running errands beforehand, the Nike Air Max 270 kicks work as a lifestyle shoe too.

Hiking

One of my favorite things to do with my Todd because we can chat, sweat and get some fresh air. It’s a great way for us to connect on the weekends, cash in on some alone time and de-stress from the week. Comfortable kicks are key for a sweat like this.

Stadiums

Every so often, when I need a kick in the butt (pun intended) I’ll head to some stadium stairs near our house and turn on some music to zone out to. I reward myself afterwards with a juice or smoothie. Another version of “me time” that feeds the soul.
