How I Do “Me Time”

February 4, 2019

Todd asked me the other day what I wanted for Valentine’s Day. The answer?

It was a no brainer… a quiet morning to myself at home. Without any agenda, just a sunny spot on our patio with a stack of books and a handful of beauty products to pamper myself with. Between life, juggling work and a family those quiet mornings are a rare occurrence and feel like the greatest gift when they do happen. Of course not too long otherwise I end up missing everybody, ha!

Along with my morning all to myself would be some clean beauty favorites to sweeten the deal. Remember when I mentioned my struggle with my skin during the fall? I did a ton of research on skincare lines and makeup and Beautycounter came up multiple times. Everyone I talked to raved about the line, which I had used a few years back (and loved), but clearly I needed to revisit. I had a chance to try some of their products again and I’m so impressed with how well they work but best of all my skin doesn’t seem irritated—and bonus, there is nothing toxic or harmful in the products. I’m eager to try their makeup collection next because that has been a huge culprit in my skin issues.

Back to my luxurious, quiet morning of “me time.”

One thing I learned during my skin troubles was the cleanser I was using was too aggressive for my skin and irritating it while drying it out. The more gentle and less stripping the better. This product is a best seller for a reason! It's thorough when cleaning skin yet gentle and moisturizing. You can use this as an overnight moisture mask as well. Every evening I clean my skin with this balm and splash my face with cold water in the morning.

Remember when we thought clean beauty products didn't work as well? Well now they work better than the run of the mill ones. This breakthrough product is insanely cool! It adjusts hydration levels throughout the day with breakthrough Biomimic Technology—translation your skin is being taken care of all-day-long. I weigh on the dry side and I was so impressed with this product.

The perfect start to my morning "me time" begins at night with this overnight treatment. Normally a product like this would irritate my skin (it's been so sensitive lately!) but not this one. I wake up with a fresh glow and no scary aftermath. I credit the clean, smart ingredients. A friend saw this in my bathroom (before I had yet to use it) and raved about it, at which point I decided to give it a try and am so glad I did! Currently addicted to that morning glow.

Also in case you’re wondering, here’s what is on my reading list. You know I’ll be soaking in a quiet hour or two with a good read. How do you guys like to soak in your “me time?” Would love to hear, we could all use a little inspiration to treat ourselves.

Thank you to Beautycounter for supporting this post, all opinions are my own.
